Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

“Some days, doing 'the best we can' may still fall short of what we would like to be able to do, but life isn't perfect on any front-and doing what we can with what we have is the most we should expect of ourselves or anyone else” -Mr. Fred Rogers

I believe that struggle is a part of life. Sometimes these challenges can lead to growth and change. Often, we can manage our struggles through our own internal resources and external supports. However, there are times where we need some additional tools. Therapy can help in strengthening our existing resources, developing new skills and reflecting on experiences in order to gain a greater understanding of ourselves and our reactions.

I have spent 15 years providing therapy to children and families in the community behavioral health setting. I have worked with kids and families with a myriad of ages and concerns. My training has largely been centered on play therapy, trauma, attachment, cognitive and behavioral skills training. I have worked with young children (birth-age 5), school aged kids and teens. I have also engaged with parents on the parent-child relationship and processing their own attachment histories.

From this experience I have learned that the best way to progress in treatment is to look at the whole person and the environment in which they exist.

We all have layers, and it is important to recognize that a person is more than the problem they are seeking help for. I believe in using best practice and evidence-based interventions to address specific issues but I also believe that it is important for a therapist to be flexible in responding to the nuances of an individual or family group.

I hope this information is helpful in guiding those seeking treatment to find the right fit.
